2012 Toyota Highlander Review and Prices


Toyota, the largest auto manufacturing company is refurbishing its 2011 Highlander model and introducing it in the market by autumn 2011 as the 2012 Toyota Highlander. This model is generously spacious family car as well as the SUV. The 2012 Highlander is a mere replica of 2011 Highlander in a new robe.
The 2012 Toyota Highlander has bigger motor with nicer interior, spacious and more. It looks more like SUV with the uni-body design to benefit the fuel economy and smooth ride. The car is spacious to accommodate seven passengers with three rows of accommodation. The entire middle seat from the second row can be removed giving it a captain’s chair look for the easy passage to the third row. The cargo volume is 10.3 cubic feet which can be expanded to 42.3 cubic feet by folding the third row. The cargo space can be further extended till 95.4 cubic feet with front seat in place. Every 2012 Highlander will be equipped with alloy wheels, with the growing wheel size from 17 inches to 19 inches with the increase in the cost.
The hybrid mechanical system can drive the 2012 Toyota Highlander on electric power or gasoline or both. 2012 Highlander is powered by 2.7 liter 4 cylinder motor to generate 187hp available with only front wheel drive whereas the 3.5 liter 6 cylinder (v-6) motor generates 270hp and available with front drive and AWD. The hybrid system can also drive the 2012 Highlander with the combination of both electric power and gasoline to normalize acceleration and fuel efficiency. The front wheel drive mechanism helps the vehicle maintain traction on slippery road therefore the mechanism automatically switches the AWD system to front wheel drive on slippery roads. The 2012 Highlander will have the unique feature of panel display to monitor the gas and electric power usage. To maintain safety on road the 2012 Highlanders will have an antiskid system, antilock four-wheel disc brakes. The standard safety features also comprise of head-protecting curtain, side airbags in all the three rows to safeguard from inside collisions and approaching twists and turns.

Whereas the Highlanders V-6, 5-speed-automatic motor is expected to give the performance of 18mpg in city and 24 mpg on highway with front wheel drive it will give 17mpg in city, 23 on highway with AWD. The 2012 Highlander hybrid is expected to perform with the rate of 27mpg in city and 25mpg on highway. The figures on highway are more than that of city as the vehicle can cruise on electric power at lower speeds in city.
The base price for the 2012 Toyota Highlander with V-6, front wheel drive is expected to be around $29,500 on the other hand the estimation for V-6 with AWD is $31,500. The starting price for 2012 Toyota Highlander hybrid is expected to be $37,000.
