GPS Review – Garmin Nuvi 3700 Series: 3750, 3760T, 3790T

Garmin launched a new series today in their bunch of GPS devices and it comes with the name Garmin Nuvi 3700 series which include nüvi 3790T, nüvi 3760T and nüvi 3750. Although the complete details are not known yet the goods on these devices are available and you will get some important points about this 3700 nuvi series. The most notable features are thin designing, full glass feature form front side and historical traffic data which are built in accordance with Navteq traffic patterns.
Designing

The 3700 nuvi series is thin in size as small as 9mm. As a result it gives the feel of iPhone to everyone. The glass designing, black color border around the edges, thin designing and silver color edges completely provide it the look of an iPhone. A new mount is also available with new designing which is dropped for some previous models.  The term active mount denotes the connection of power cord with the mount instead of direct connection of GPS with power cord. In addition to this, another facility provided by active mount is the attachment of a secondary speaker for voice clarity.
Addition of 3D
With the addition of 3D terrain and 3D buildings, Garmin nuvi 3760T, nuvi 3790T , nuvi 3750 proves the ability of its horsepower to handle advanced graphics . Changes can also be made to the interface with the help of its multi-touch gestures e.g. switching can be performed between the dimensional modes for the rotation of map. Facility of screen lock saves it from accidental damage. Double tap can also be performed on the map for zooming in and out.
Voice recognition

There are no significant changes in voice recognition other than a “wake up phrase” of GPS. Users can set “Hey computer” listen phrase due to which instructions are available only after this phrase. It is very similar to the children game “Simon Says” and it mimics just like the game in computer.
New features of trafficTrends and myTrends

These are two new features and Garmin trafficTrends resembles very closely to TomTom IQ Routes. Due to the availability of historical traffic data it seems like a feeder highway at 5:00 am but looks like a parking lot after 4 hours, i.e. 9:00 am. Although they use Navteq traffic patterns, it is not better than TomTom IQ Routes. If the provision of feeding data back to Navteq is performed, it is possible to have improvements in data.
Another interesting feature is Garmin myTrends. It guesses the destination of your path based on the time and place where you turn on the GPS. AN interesting example for this feature is that if you are leaving home at the same time and in the same direction every day it assumes that most probably going to work and provide a route for that place. It can be said as an intelligent feature, although not of much use.
Overall analysis Garmin nuvi 3700

The Garmin nuvi 3700 looking wise similar to iPhone, users likely to buy this cool gadget. A good and attractive feature of it is use of GPS in both landscape and portrait modes. Garmin trafficTrends is the most significant feature in this gadget, although does not stand any comparison with IQ Routes.
The models are expected to available around third quarter, i.e. between July and September.
